About the project

Project Progress – King George’s Playing Field Re-development

Phase 1 Complete

Costells Meadow Car Park – was extended and resurfaced to tidy up the area and add additional parking spaces.

Phase 2 Complete

Playground refurbishment – we replaced the swings and added equipment  that is inclusive for all, including a wheelchair friendly roundabout and basket swing. We also installed a gravity bowl, a role play train, loud speakers and 3 play panels. We levelled and resurfaced, adding in a pop of colour.

Phase 3 Complete

Skate Park – we created a park for wheeled sports, with concrete ramps and a tarmacked plaza – something for everyone! Our designer worked with users to create a park for scooters, skateboards, bikes and wheelchairs and for all abilities; complete with attractive flower bed seating.

Phase 4 Complete

Perimeter Path – we installed a very popular and well used path around the field to provide a level all-weather surface that is accessible for all. It also provides easier access to the car parks, playground and new skate park.

What’s next?

PHASE 5 – we are currently working on the final phase of the re-development plan:

  1. Pavilion refurbishment to provide: accessible toilet facilities; a water fountain; changing rooms and lockers; a café; and a canopy to provide sheltered viewing of the pitches.
  2. Court refurbishment – to resurface, re-fence and floodlight the courts to create an area offering a wider range of sports usage.

We are also busy trying to secure the necessary funding needed to complete our redevelopment plans as soon as possible.
